The summer of 2006, a girlfriend invited me to attend a Traveling Vineyard Wine Tasting and I accepted. At the time I had been trying lots of different wines! My favorites were Melon, Tropical Fruits and Blackberry flavored Arbor Mist  . At the tasting I tried a Sauvignon Blanc and I loved it! I learned about the smelling and swirling and thought this was pretty neat! I booked an event. I took information home with me about maybe becoming a consultant too.
I had my tasting and it was so much fun! This time I discovered a torrontes wine that I liked. At the end of the night, I learned the consultant had earned about $150. All she had done was come and drink wine with us and she made $150! I told her I was signing on as a consultant.
I visited her website and filled out the contract information to become a consultant. When I got down to where I put in my credit card information I froze. I thought people in direct sales were pushy and I'm not like that so how could I do this? The wine consultant who came to my house wasn't pushy though? Still, I was worried about spending the money on the starter kit. I was worried I wouldn't get any bookings. I was worried I wouldn't have any customers. I was worried because I knew nothing about wine and didn't even like red wine! I have a house, a husband, 2 kids, a dog, and a couple cats to take care of. Oh, yeah...and a full time job! I was worried I wouldn't have the time for this. The consultant told me not to worry, that she would help me. I remember thinking of course she's going to tell me that, but what if she doesn't help me? I was worried! That's when it hit me. I lacked the confidence in myself to do this. Once I realized that, I knew I HAD to sign on. That was September 2006.
Immediately after I signed on my upline welcomed me to her team. She trained me, and helped me with everything I needed to know. She was there for me, just like she said she would be!
I had my first tasting in October 2006, and that one tasting earned me enough to pay for the cost of the starter kit!!! And, I LOVED it!
Today, I have so many friends in this business. My fellow consultants, hostesses, and my customers are wonderful! And after all this time, my upline is still there for me as a leader and a friend, just like she said she would be!
Every time I go to work, I drink wine and surround myself with happy people doing the same! It's a fabulous job, and I love everything about it. I even love red wine now! However, if I had to pick the most rewarding thing for me it would have to be the self-confidence I have gained. I didn't realize I lacked that confidence until I signed on with The Traveling Vineyard and found it. My worries are over, and my only regret is having not signed on sooner.
